Migrants turned away from Turkey-Bulgaria border

(4 Mar 2020) Dozens of migrants were forced to turn back from Turkey’s land border with EU-member Bulgaria on Wednesday after they weren’t allowed in. The large group of men, women and children was walking south toward Edirne in northwestern Turkey, from where they said they would try to reach the Greek border in an attempt to cross into Europe. The attempts to push away migrants away from Greece comes after Turkey said its own border with Europe was open to whoever wanted to cross. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s action triggered days of violent clashes and scenes of chaos at the land border, where thousands of migrants and refugees have gathered.
