New York City 1977: News From Home

“News from home“ is a 1977 avant-garde documentary film directed by Chantal Akerman. The film consists of long takes of locations in New York City, set to her voice-over as she reads letters sent by her mother. Akerman’s film was the single inspiration for mood, colors and textures of “Joker“ which is set in 1981.
