The Beach Boys California Dreamin’

California Dreamin’ (2007 digital remaster) is performed by The Beach Boys on Salute to the 60s for Solid Gold Episode 31 aired in 1987. Recorded in 1986 for their greatest hits compilation Made in USA, California Dreamin’ was produced by Terry Melcher and featured Roger McGuinn of the Byrds on 12-string guitar. California Dreamin’ was written by John Phillips and Michelle Phillips. The best-known version is by The Mamas & the Papas, whose original recording was released as a single in 1965. Although the Beach Boys cover song only charted at a modest number 57 on the Billboard Hot 100, the single reached number 8 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary. The Beach Boys personnel on the recording is Carl Wilson – vocals, Al Jardine – vocals, Mike Love – vocals, Brian Wilson – vocals, and Bruce Johnston – vocals.
