secret love: calam & katie

“CALAMITY JANE (1953)“ the original edit of this was 15 minutes long, but i had to cut it down to fit it on here. i made this because i wanted to show my friends how ridiculously gay the subtext in this movie is. calamity and katie are very clearly in love with each other, and willing to sacrifice their own happiness(es) for each other. this is just a compilation of the most important clips in the film that display their subtexted affections. i also wrote a really long scene by scene recap that youtube won’t accept because it is too long. i clearly spent far too much time on this! if you’re interested in reading it, let me know! in conclusion, doris day’s calamity jane is an incredible butch woman, with agile strength and just enough goofiness to pull of being completely adorable. the musical numbers in this are all very good, and i was surprised by how much i really loved this movie. it was a lot better than i had expected it to be.
