Mettaton’s Cutting-Edge Autograph [Undertale 3D Animation]

Heya all!! So I was planning to finish this animation for Undertale’s anniversary, but... I totally missed it as life has been busy. Whoops 💀 But hey, better late than never, right? I didn’t want to rush things as I wanted to ensure the quality was on par with my previous Papyrus animation. Really excited to finally be able to share this with you guys now that it’s done!! So remember that poll we had a while back? (this one: ) Mettaton landed in second place after Papyrus, so now it’s his turn to shine in the spotlight (literally)! My goal is to create an animation for each character from that poll, and you bet Alphys and Undyne will share a video when their turn comes (but I’m getting a way ahead of myself here). So yeah, where do I start?? Mettaton’s model and rig were something else. Making the arms noodly and extendable was a fun challenge to tackle. The model itself was tricky in terms of aesthetics as I wanted to go for a slightly more naturalistic yet also cartoony translation, especially on the face, all the while trying to avoid the uncanny valley. I also decided to stick with the knife theme for my UT fan animations, aiming for that “starts off threatening but turns out wholesome“ approach, just like I did for Pap’s anim. I’m super excited to finally share this with you all, as it took a ton of effort, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it!
