Boney M ~ Baby Do You Want To Bump 1975 Disco Purrfection Version

“The Bump“ became one of disco’s favorite dances all about “bumping bootie“ cheek to cheek. It was done by bumping the side butts together by two dancers in time to the music. Of course, it was a cleaned up version of the original bump which was overtly sexual and had two dancers facing the same way, bumping and grinding together in a faux sex encounter. This dirty bump became popular on the NY club scene in the early to mid 70’s. To celebrate this dance, Frank Farian went in the studio with a clip of a 1967 song by Prince Buster called “Al Capone“. Copying the music, he added a strong backbeat and provided all the vocals using tape speed. “Baby Do You Want To Bump“ was the first Boney M song to become popular, if only in the Netherlands but it gave Farian the idea to put together a group that disco loving crowds would take to their heart.
