This remastered video is about the historical anthems of Germany and the history of the German anthem. The smaller German states included in this video are the ones that have anthems, and they are only either a kingdom or a grand duchy. Austria does not include in this video. ► I am supposed to add the anthem of the Kingdom of Württemberg (Württemberger Hymne), but the lyrics I saw (which start with “Von dir, o Vaterland, zu singen“) does not seem to correspond with the recordings I hear across different websites (in which they start with “Preisend mit viel schönen Reden“ instead). The apparent composer of the one with “Von dir, o Vaterland, zu singen“ opening was Peter Josef von Lindpaintner, but I can’t find any recording with these lyrics. ► Due to YouTube’s Community Guidelines on hate speech, I will not show the national and the co-national anthem of Germany from 1933 to 1945. Showing this part will risk the removal of this video as a whole. I hope you all understand. ► Patriotic and unofficial anthems are included in this video, which made this video quite lengthy. ► Fun fact: There are five recordings in this video that use the tune of the British anthem.
