Titles read: “WILL THIS SOLVE UNEMPLOYMENT?“
River Rouge, United States of America.
Various shots of young men on a kind of farm camp near motorcar magnate Henry Ford’s factory. The boys, from poor families, work on the farm in return for $2 a day from Ford, plus meals and a share in the profits.
The men work on tractors to plough fields, pose for the cameras with Henry Ford, eat in the canteens, operate combine harvesters, pick vegetables and sell them at a roadside stall. Ford examines some corn cobs. Commentator says soya beans grown on the farm are used in the manufacture of motorcar parts.
