“Drawing From Imagination Is Too Hard“

I get this comment a lot. It came up again from some Drawing Basics students after I gave an assignment. While trying to progress and get better at a skill, you’re going to have to do things that aren’t comfortable or easy. You can already have so much knowledge about making a great drawing. But drawing from reference and imagination are very different. You just need to actually take the step of doing the thing before you can get better at it.
