Explaining Discovery Klingons | Star Trek Theory

Why do the Star Trek Discovery Klingons look so different to the Star Trek The Next Generation Klingons? Can we explain this using existing canon like the Augment virus from Star Trek Enterprise? Are the Klingon Orcs in Discovery just the result of genetic experiments to regain their ridges and just went too far resulting in a genetic mutation and de-evolved into a more prehistoric like Klingon? Can all of this explain the changes in the Klingons, including into Kirk’s era and the Original Series human like Klingons? Let’s explore this more in Star Trek Theory.
