A Brief History of: The Sarov Criticality (Documentary)

Learn while you’re at home with Plainly Difficult! Criticality accidents are a technician’s worst nightmare, although a rare occurrence they do happen and can result in severe radiological exposure and an expensive clean up process. An event would unfold in Sarov in the Russian federation in 1997 and would have some similarities to 2 of the most infamous criticality accidents, those being the deaths linked to the Demon Core. Although not identical, the accidental prompt criticality of some fissile material due to accidental dropping of a reflector does sound familiar to Louis Slotins’ exposure. The horror of a Criticality accident is fascinating. The accident would result in a dead experienced technician and a 6 and a half day excursion. Want to become a channel member?
