Cost of living crisis: Mum-of-four paying up to £50 a day for electricity ’dreading’ price cap rise

It’s being described as the biggest energy price shock in living memory. Tomorrow household bills will soar, intensifying the cost of living crisis. The price cap - which has kept a lid on gas and electricity bills - is being raised by more than 50 per cent. It’s because gas prices around the world have reached unprecedented highs. The change means the average energy bill will increase by almost 700 pounds a year. People are being urged to submit meter readings by midnight to avoid being overcharged. But the websites of many major suppliers have been down for most of the day. Courtney Cameron reports.
