He was an inspiration and a friend’: Ryan Reynolds remembers Wrexham fan who passed away

A terminally-ill Wrexham fan who met club boss Ryan Reynolds as his dying wish has passed away from appendix cancer at 45. Jay Fear, from Southampton, was diagnosed with the rare and aggressive form of cancer in January and was given only months to live. He was a lifelong fan of Wrexham AFC, which was taken over by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney earlier this year. Last month, he got the chance to meet his idol Reynolds at Wrexham’s Racecourse stadium, where he watched the team win promotion to the Football League. Reynolds also invited him to the filming of the third Deadpool movie and gave him a treasured glove from his original Deadpool costume. Mr Fear’s wife, Kelly, said he was overjoyed by the meeting and described it as “the best day of his life”. She said: “He was so happy and excited. He couldn’t believe it was happening.
