Artificial intelligence comes in all shapes and sizes from robotic vacuum cleaners to machinery that builds cars, however, sci-films such as The Terminator have always played with the idea of robots being killing machines. In 2023 this may not be too far from the truth, in 2022 police controversially utilized a robot to end a standoff with a suspect with lethal results. As well as this, robotics companies are pushing the boundaries to see how lethal they can make combat robots. From small robots that fire grenades to large machine gun welding machines, there doesn’t seem to be a limit to the level of destruction capable by a robot. In this episode of Xplained, we take a look at some of the most extreme robots that were designed to be killing machines.
