The Cars - Drive (New 2022 Extended Version + Teri Garr Tribute)

- Using Ben Orr’s original vocals, I thought I’d try to remake the 12“ version using my own instruments (Using - KorgM1, Korg01, AccessVirusKC and Roland JV2080). I did it because I really love the instrumental section heard once near the end of the 7“, and wanted to hear a few more variations of that in my 12“, especially during the intro. I had to sing some of the backing vocals, the “who’s gonna drive ya, who’s gonna drive ya“ chord that repeats occasionally (I hate my voice btw but after applying loads of effects I’m almost unrecognisable, phew!). I didn’t want to stray too much from the sound of the original (I’ve always loved the song, it’s perfect as it is), but I couldn’t find a perfect match for all the instruments, my snare drum is a bit thunderous, and I might have overdone the synthy strings a little.
