The Intersex Refugee Who “Juiced“ Posie Parker: Eliana Rubashkyn Shares Her Life Story

This is an hourlong interview (recorded April 22, 2023) with Eliana Rubashkyn, the intersex refugee who gained public attention in March 2023 for pouring tomato juice on Posie Parker (Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull) during the latter’s trip to New Zealand, in protest of Parker’s activism against trans rights. Eliana shares her life story as an intersex person born in Columbia who was raised as a boy, before subsequently developing female-typical characteristics around puberty and eventually becoming a stateless refugee due to a perceived “mismatch“ between her legal documents and her physical embodiment. The interviewer is Brian D. Earp, a philosopher and bioethicist who works on intersex rights who became acquainted with Eliana on a trip to New Zealand earlier in the year.
