“Englishman in New York“ (Sting) for Guitar Solo. Guitar: Antonio Lopez Martin (1966)

In this transcription I used several lines of the soprano sax used in the original CD version. One way or the other I ended up with a certain kind of classical approach but with a strong influence regarding Americain fingerpicking. The song “walks“ in a certain way and I wanted to keep that thorough the whole song. So for that reason an alternating bass line in this piece. I hope you like it. The guitar I’m using here is an Antonio Lopez Martin from 1966. Though quite a bit older it is in remarkably good condition. Equipped with a rather deep soundbox I had to be more aware of what that does to the 0 Db “border“ for some lower notes but such things are happening sometimes. A spruce topped instrument with remarkable “Marrocain like“ tuners as the base plate appears to be made out of pure silver. Superior quality!
