Foremost Poets - Escape From Dubai

Foundation Music is very proud to present “The Flowers” EP by the legend that is Foremost Poets aka Johnny Dangerous. Recently back in the news after being featured on the Grammy winning “Alien Superstar” from the latest Beyonce album but for those that know he has never gone away and is always on someone’s dance floor every weekend. His A Capella’s are legendary (particularly ”Moonraker” as sampled in the above) and his tracks and productions devastating, if not classic.  Foundation Music’s Ross Allen has been a fan since he first heard the Nu Groove Records classic “Reason’s To Be Dismal” - featured here in all its majesty just clearer and more pronounced glory in the reworked “Richard Long Edition” - a record that blew him and many away then when it first came out and still does now. It was recently played by Pete Tong on Radio One and Sven Vath included it on his anniversary compilation “What I Used To Play”. For Foundation to put this track out is a real honour ! It’s a classic that sounds even better now in this incarnation However, it wasn’t this track that got Foundation to contact Johnny. Ross heard NY/NJ legend Tony Humphries playing the incredible “Flowers In The Attic”. He had to find out what it was and who it was by, when he did, he started playing it on his NTS Show, to an amazing reaction. This was over  3 years ago, Foundation met with Johnny in NYC heard a load of his other tracks and immediately signed an EP… “Flowers In The Attic” - is no normal dance record, clocking in at over 13minutes, it is an epic Johnny D production (and vocal), the song’s lyric is brilliant and the track falls in that amazing place where funk and house come together in the most magical, danceable way. It’s long but entrancing, it takes you through so many differing phases, surprising you as it it sucks you in, twists you up and pulls you in to places that you don’t imagine you’d get to when the track first starts… Its a journey and you will dance !!  “Escape From Dubai” -  is different again. Almost trance like in its feel but with that New York leaning that keeps it very much on the right side of the fence for Foundation, it has the funk and the deepness and it builds and swells and is another epic journey only to a very different dimension “Don’t Shut Your Eyes” - Is another deviation. This track is almost Broken Beat in style. In reality it is another amazing piece of NY/NJ uptempo funk, syncopated and grooving with a repetitive hook, the track goes deep with its Hammond organ solo and jazzy vocals. The pandemic hit and there was no way that Foundation would release these magical tracks in to a dancing void… So we have sat on these tracks until the time felt right and that time his now. This music is timeless, perfect for now and shows the diversity that Johnny has in 2023 We did release his amazing remixes of Lady Blackbird which due to popular demand are finally being released on vinyl as part of the Lady Blackbird Dub Plate Remixes series - the latest version featuring remixes from Ashley Beedle, Matthew Herbert, Bruise and the aforementioned Foremost Poets version These tracks are here in the shape of the “FLOWERS EP”. Coming out very soon on vinyl in a limited run of 500 and soon after available digitally every where After this there will be a remix EP featuring remixes of these tracks by KDA, Joseph Ashworth, That Man Monkz and others.
