Mad Rock Vision: The Future of Climbing Shoes?

WeighMyRack filmed Mad Rock at the Outdoor Retailer trade show. Kenny showed us a prototype of the upcoming Vision climbing shoes, the first ever compression molded climbing shoe. The Vision builds on Mad Rock’s legacy of creating molded sticky rubber parts while taking the technology to its logical conclusion... a 1-piece, all-rubber, molded skin/skeleton. Interchangeable liners will allow for modular adjustments to fit and performance characteristics. The rubber will be Mad Rock’s proprietary Science Friction sticky rubber of variable thickness - which controls where it will stretch and where it will hold its shape. This technology reduces rubber waste by about 25%, eliminates delamination issues, increases precision in manufacturing, and opens a whole new era of climbing shoe development. Is this the Future?
