Atrium (Colombia) — Spectral Oneiric Lands — 2023 full length

The second offering of this solo Colombian act. The more I listen to this second record, the more I come to the conclusion that the atmospheric part is less than the ravenous standard black metal side, which is greatly influenced by the fast and intrusive percussion. Despite that, there’s quite often synths that inject the ambient flavour in the melody and force it towards a more harmonious and delicate textures. Something that was already present in the debut, but pursuing this time a fiercer black metal path. However, such mellow sections do not weigh too much in the whole aesthetic in order to dispel the pure malevolence this music carries. Not sure which record I like more, but this one is also a fine piece, regardless which black metal path you prefer the best.
