Demo held in Rotterdam over COVID rules

(6 Feb 2022) More than ten thousand of people marched peacefully through Rotterdam on Sunday to protest the Dutch government’s coronavirus policy and measures. Holding balloons, umbrellas and banners, protesters were watched by a large police presence for the duration of the demonstration, which ended peacefully at the center of Rotterdam. One protester said they had come to “stand for our freedom“, while another accused the government of “taking our freedom“ with the restrictions. The Netherlands still has a number of restrictions in place, such as the use of COVID passes and restricted opening hours on shops and recreation.
