Edward Ladell’s life is largely unknown. Colchester is where he was born. Edward Ladell travelled to the west of the country after many years of working in his hometown, eventually settling in Exeter. Despite being a self-taught artist, Edward Ladell developed his own personal style, which was influenced by the seventeenth-century Dutch tradition.
