🎼 Music therapy: the effect of music on sleep There are studies on the effects of music on sleep quality in sleep disorders (sleep disorders, as we know, can lead to fatigue, depression and other problems during waking hours). One such study is discussed below. Ninety-four students (ages 19 to 28) with sleep complaints were studied in 2006 in Hungary (with the help of grants from the Ministry of Education and some other Hungarian organizations). Participants listened for 45 minutes to either relaxing classical music (Group 1) or an audiobook (Group 2) before going to bed for 3 weeks. The control group (Group 3) received no intervention. The study excluded the use of sleeping pills, sedatives, and antidepressants. The results showed that music statistically significantly improved sleep quality, which in contrast did not improve in the audiobook group or in the control group. Symptoms of depression were also statistically significantly reduced in the “music“ group, but not in the group that listened to audiobooks. The techniques used in this experiment to measure sleep quality and detect depressive symptoms are called the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and the Beck Depression Inventory, respectively. Conclusion: Relaxing classical music is an effective intervention for sleep problems and is a safe, inexpensive and simple treatment for insomnia (in relatively young people). Music can reduce sympathetic nervous system activity, reduce anxiety, blood pressure, heart rate, breathing and can have a positive effect on sleep by relaxing muscles and slowing thinking. The album used in the study was The Most Relaxing Classical, 2 CD, Edited by Virgin 1999. Its tracklist includes works by J. S. Bach, I. Pachelbel, E. Satie, C. Saint-Saëns, T. Albinoni, and others. Participants were not asked to choose the type of music to listen to, but all of them stated that they liked classical music. In addition, they did not have any previous training in relaxation techniques. The magnitude of the difference between the “music“ and “audiobook“ groups became statistically significant only after the second week, and during the third week the difference became even stronger. Interestingly, the tempo of relaxing music should be somewhere around 60-80 beats per minute or less, which has been previously revealed by other studies in the same field. 📣 Support: Translated with (free version) 💳 *Paypal* - acata454@ 💳 *Paypal* online 432Hz tuned Meditative by Almusic34 is licensed under a Attribution 4.0 International License. #relaxation_music #relaxing_music #Support the channel
