The Volkssturm – The Last Army of Germany in WW II

The Volkssturm in WW2 was the last army of Germany during the Second World War. From 1944 the Volkssturm (People’s Storm) was established as a people’s militia. It was under direct party control instead of the Wehrmacht. The Volkssturm was an army of civilians and consisted of men between the ages of 16 and 60. The Volkssturm weapons were: the Panzerfaust and the Volkssturmgewehr (Volkssturm Rifle). These were Germany’s last ditch weapons of WWII.
