THIS ARTIST TURNS PENCIL TIPS INTO INCREDIBLE SCULPTURES

Salavat Fidai is a creative artist from Russia who can carve anything out of pencil tips! He has worked as a lawyer more than 25 years, but in 2013 he started doing art. Salavat began with digital photography. He focused on taking pictures of fruit and vegetables. He started working with miniature art in 2014, painting on matchboxes, pumpkin and sunflower seeds and grains of rice. After that he began sculpting miniature figures from pencil graphite, and he can now do it with great skill! Creating a sculpture takes between six and twelve hours, and for difficult works Salavat can devote up to two or three days. The artist works with a craft knife and a stereo microscope. At first, he used jumbo pencils with a graphite diameter of 5 mm, but now he works with lead between 0.5 and 2 mm in diameter. Salavat has created pencil sculptures of movie and cartoon characters, animals, musical instruments, pop culture objects, household items, famous architectural objects, and more!
