Лицевой свод - крупнейший летописно-хронографический свод Древней Руси, созданный по заказу царя Ивана Васильевича Грозного в Александровской слободе в 1568-1576 гг. Он содержит изложение всемирной истории от сотворения мира до XVI века н. э., до времени Ивана Грозного. Почти каждая страница Лицевого свода украшена цветными миниатюрами. Это уникальный памятник русского средневекового искусства, а также важный исторический источник. В данном издании представлено включенное в Лицевой свод «Сказание о Мамаевом побоище», украшенное 248 миниатюрами. Также издание включает перевод «Сказания» на современный русский язык, и статьи Д.С. Лихачева «Куликовская битва в миниатюрах XVI века» и Л.А. Дмитриева «Куликовская битва в древнерусских литературных памятниках». THE TALE OF THE BATTLE OF KULIKOVO text and miniatures of the front arch of the XVI century The obverse vault is the largest chronicle-chronographic vault of Ancient Russia, created by order of Tsar Ivan Vasilyevich the Terrible in the Alexandrovskaya Sloboda in 1568-1576. It contains an exposition of world history from the creation of the world to the XVI century AD, until the time of Ivan the Terrible. Almost every page of the Front Arch is decorated with colored miniatures. It is a unique monument of Russian medieval art, as well as an important historical source. This edition presents the “Legend of the Mamayev Massacre“ included in the Front Vault, decorated with 248 miniatures. The publication also includes a translation of the “Legend“ into modern Russian, and articles by D.S. Likhachev “The Battle of Kulikovo in miniatures of the XVI century“ and L.A. Dmitriev “The Battle of Kulikovo in Ancient Russian literary monuments“.
