Speculation about a potential Back to the Future 4 has been ongoing ever since the eponymous threequel in 1990. Franchise co-creator Bob Gale denounced the possibility of a fourth entry, telling Variety in July, “There’s no need to go back to that well. You’ve seen too many people go back too many times. As I’ve said many times, the characters in Back to the Future are my family, my children. You don’t sell your kids into prostitution.“ Additionally, Fox expressed that he isn’t keen on a Back to the Future reboot. The movie trilogy is widely revered, making over $965 million at the box office, with the first film receiving four Academy Award nominations, winning for Best Sound Editing.
