LYRICS: Somebody once told me it took fame to bring joy to my life again. Somebody once told me I need wealth to feel secure, to live in peace, and be in health. Somebody once told me who I knew would affect my value. Somebody once told me what I had would determine what kind of person I am. But what I have, who I know, where I go, they don’t make me any better or lesser at all. I’m not the clothes I wear, the car I drive, the things I buy, those are not me- they’re just things. Well I’ve run the race, chased the chase but in the end I was the same- empty and cold. So I’m done believing the lies we are told, we are told. Well I’ve been running around listening to their foolish words. Oh, I was running in circles chasing after an empty world.
