0 - 100 years in Senegal (French)

In 2012 I made the first ’from 0 to 100 years’ in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The idea was to find 100 people in the streets (from baby to 100 year-old) and ask them to state their age in the camera, just the number of their age and edit this in the rhythm of their counting. To my surprise and excitement, the video went viral. A few years later I made versions in New York and Barcelona. And recently I went to Dakar, Senegal to make a French version. Every city, country, culture has its own peculiarities and Dakar was no different. For one, people in public are not really keen on the camera. If I had walked around by myself as a foreigner, trying to coerce people in my broken French to participate in this documentary project, I would have gotten nowhere. Luckily I had assistance from the Senegalese filmer/fixer Cheikhou Diarra who basically rounded up all his family, friends and acquaintances. And THEIR family, friends and acquintances...
