DIXIE’S LAND - Daniel Emmett - 1860 - Tom Roush

Though this song has been claimed to have been written by several other people, Daniel Emmett is the recognized composer. Originally written as a minstrel song it became a rallying song for the south of which Emmett, a Unionist, lamented.
