What Could Go Wrong?

Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only On May 9, 2021 at 4:46 p.m., the Kern County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stolen vehicle while patrolling the area of Olive Drive and Highway 99. Units began searching for the vehicle, a white GMC Sierra truck. A vehicle recovery system alert led units to the 5900 block of Wright Avenue, where the vehicle was located. The vehicle was occupied. There were also several subjects standing around the vehicle, talking with the driver of the stolen vehicle. As two K-9 Deputies initiate a high-risk traffic stop, the driver of the stolen truck begins to drive away, however, stops after approximately 20 feet. This caused the subjects standing near the stolen vehicle to now be in closer proximity to the patrol vehicle. One of the K-9 Deputies removed his K-9 partner from his vehicle to assist.
