Doctor explains promising new stem cell treatment for spinal injuries

A new experimental stem cell treatment involves taking stem cells from fat in a patient’s stomach and injecting them into the spine, aiming to recover the function lost in a spinal cord injury. Dr Mohamad Bydon, the study’s author from Mayo Clinic, told The Independent that the hope is stem cell treatment can be used alongside other therapies.
