Tripteron Robot - Simpler Than It Looks?

This intriguing mechanism looks complicated but is surprisingly simple. A tripteron is a 3 axis motion system. While rarely used in practice, it has potential applications in 3D printing (similar to a delta robot), photography, and general robotics. This is an experimental design we are calling a “parallel axis tripteron“ since all 3 input motions are parallel to each other. This has the advantage of allowing nearly unlimited travel along the parallel axis, since increasing the length of the input rails is relatively cheap and easy. We’re using linear stages from our LC40 family to provide the input motion. See for product details. #shorts #robot #robotics #motioncontrol
