Afghanistan King Amanullah succeeds murdered father. Afghanistan; scenes from Kabul; probably during or after revolt in 1919 ? Amanullah Khan replaces his father; Habibullah Khan; who was assassinated.(Titles; in German; are rather confusing; they may have reversed the names of the 2 kings.) Shots of Afghan men walking about streets of city; others sitting on street; most wear turbans and baggy layers of clothing; shoes w/ turned up toes. One man seems to be a street barber cutting another man’s hair. CU vendor of carpets & fabrics sitting on ground; he spreads a cloth w/ intricate design on top of rolled rugs in front of him. Many Afghan soldiers walking down street; carrying rifles. Young boys in various ethnic clothing walk alongside. Group of soldiers pose together; wearing ammunition belts both around their waists and criss-crossed over their chests. CU New Amir Amanullah Khan (but identified as his father); also w/ masses of ammo; w/ soldiers. Cut to scenes of aeroplanes taking off in snowy field.
