The Look Of Love by Isaac Hayes from To Be Continued

Isaac Hayes made his initial mark as a writer of songs for other artists, particularly Sam and Dave, for whom he penned (along with David Porter) such smashes as “Hold On, I’m Comin’“ and “Soul Man.“ As a solo artist, however, Hayes specialized in placing his personal stamp on the work of other composers. This classic album, issued just before Christmas of 1970, finds Isaac Hayes working with the Bar-Kays, the Memphis Horns and the Memphis Symphony Orchestra applying his bedroom baritone voice and hot-buttered orchestral sound to tunes that had previously charted for Ruby and the Romantics (“Our Day Will Come“), Dusty Springfield and Sergio Mendes (“The Look of Love“), the Righteous Brothers (“You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’“), and “Runnin’ Out of Fools“ (Aretha Franklin). ...To Be Continued became a No. 11 pop-charter for its multi-talented creator. 1.
