We wanted to create a certain vibe to linger from the first until the last note throughout the whole record. We kept the weirder, more daring and more progressive material for Part II. The outcome is a record that is a real journey. It starts in one place, and concludes in a totally different place. In a way, it relates to Pelagial, which was similar in that it was also a journey: but a more guided, focused and predictable one. Phanerozoic II on the other hand is closer to the experience of free fall.“ Divided into two sections - Mesozoic and Cenozoic - Phanerozoic II once again showcases the detail and depth that have become two of The Ocean’s most enduring trademarks. While ostensibly delving into the extraordinary realities of the Earth’s shifting temporal tides, Staps and his comrades have long drawn hazy parallels between their chosen subjects and the emotional experiences that their music strives to convey. Phanerozoic II is essentially an album about time, with some very poignant and pointed allusions to the modern world woven into the new music’s spiritual fabric. 30/09 - NL Groningen, Vera 01/10 - UK Brighton, Chalk 02/10 - UK Bristol, The Fleece 03/10 - UK Nottingham, Rescue Rooms 05/10 - UK Glasgow, Classic Grand 06/10 - UK Leeds, Project House 07/10 - UK Manchester, Gorilla 08/10 - UK London, Electric Ballroom 09/10 - NL Haarlem, Patronaat 10/10 - FR Paris, La Machine 11/10 - CH Solothurn, Kofmehl 12/10 - CH Geneva, PTR/ L’Usine 13/10 - FR Toulouse, Metronum 14/10 - ES Barcelona, Salamandra 15/10 - FR Montpellier, Rockstore 16/10 - IT Milan, Magnolia 17/10 - SI Ljubljana, Kino Siska 18/10 - IT Bologna, Teatro Perla 20/10 - BE Antwerp, Desertfest 21/10 - DE Münster, Sputnikhalle 22/10 - DE Berlin, Astra 23/10 - DK Copenhagen, Amager Bio 24/10 - NO Oslo, John Dee 25/10 - SE Gothenburg, Pustervik 26/10 - SE Stockholm, Slaktkyrkan 28/10 - GR Athens, Fuzz Club
