166: David Krentz “Saurozoic Collection“ Spinosaurus Review

I’m excited to bring you the David Krentz “Saurozoic Collection” 1:40 Spinosaurus, finished with the talent of Martin Garratt! This is the last kit I ever got from Dan’s Dinosaurs, and as you will see, it is a stunner. From a time before Spinosaurus was suggested to be as aquatic as it is today, the relationship to the water is still seen in this diorama of a Spinosaurus wading on the sea shore perhaps looking for food. Seeming to follow the Scott Hartmann 2012 reconstruction which has always been a favourite, this David Krentz model is highly detailed, masterfully painted, and except for the tail, still holds up in terms of the little we know of its skull and post-cranial anatomy. The head is beautifully rendered, and this is my the favourite 1:40 bipedal model of Spinosaurus that I own.
