Brazil: Protesters in Sao Paulo call for Bolsonaro“s removal from office

Protesters gathered in Sao Paulo on Sunday demanding the removal of President Jair Bolsonaro from office. “We are in a moment where Brazil is dealing with something so serious, an attack to democratic institutions and the president is agitating his supporters against the institutions. We should set differences apart and call for impeachment,“ stated musician and activist Tico Santa Cruz. Opposition figure Ciro Gomes was seen at the protest along wth many of his supporters. Gomes, a centre-left politician, has repeatedly called Bolsonaro and his government ’fascist’ and plans to challenge Bolsonaro next election. Protesters in Brazil have been demanding Bolsonaro step down since January due to his handling of COVID pandemic and corruption allegations.
