Live: Austrian Federal Council vote on mandatory vaccination rule

The Austrian Federal Council is set to vote on the parliament’s decision to implement a mandatory vaccination rule on Thursday, February 3. On January 20, Austria became the first European country to legislate for a mandatory COVID-19 vaccine, after the majority of the National Council, the lower house of the Austrian parliament, voted in favour of the bill despite opposition from the right-wing Freedom Party. If approved by the Federal Council, the mandate will exclude the population under 19, pregnant women, and those with certain medical conditions.
