Between 1932-34, Paramount Pictures produced a series of short subject films featuring the studio’s stars. This, the first episode of “Hollywood on Parade“, is hosted by Frederic March and features child actress Mitzi Green, who sings “Was That the Human Thing to Do?“ Next, Ginger Rogers and Jack Oakie perform the song “Used to Be You“, followed by an “a la Marlene Dietrich“ performance of “Falling in Love Again“ by the Brox Sisters with Jack Duffy. The short concludes with banjo player Eddie Peabody playing the “St. Louis Blues.“
Incidentally, Eddie Peabody was the most famous American banjo player of his era, and an instrument developer and musical entertainer whose career spanned five decades.
