The First Ever Medium Format DSLR

This is a big one. (actually, but also the fact that I got my hands on one without paying $4,000!) This is the Mamiya ZD, an all-in-one digital medium format camera released in 2006. Less than 2,000 copies were ever produced, and it was never sold in the United States. While Mamiya has produced several digital backs under their name, this is the only DSLR system produced from the ground up. It’s cool, weird, special, fantastic, and completely pointless nowadays. But I love it. The Mamiya ZD uses a 22 megapixel medium format CCD sensor. It’s huge, and you bet looking at that mirror and through that viewfinder is insane. I could live a day just looking through it and be happy.
