How electronic devices can become bombs?

Posted by someone: I remember the discussion we had on one of the subject in the Master of computer engineering during the mid 80s, the possibility of replicating a technical publication of using software to execute a loop routine to heat up and possibly destroy a specific IC chip in the circuit, this was based on the report that someone in the US execute similar stunt that overheat a printer causing it to burst into flame. We never figure out how, most computer tech think its an urban legend, now it looks more plausible.
