NATO member Turkey slams US decision to deploy warships near Israel; Erdogan talked with Putin

Amid ongoing Palestinian-Israeli tensions, Turkey’s President Erdogan Tuesday criticized US’ move to send aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, along with its associated warships and fighter jets near Israel. The Israel-Hamas conflict has so far left heavy casualties on both sides, with the death toll in Gaza and Israel rising to 2,100 in total. Turkey has previously said that Turkey was ready to mediate between Israeli and Palestinian forces to ensure calm. Erdogan also pledged to restore peace in the region during his phone call with Putin. For his part, Putin voiced concern at the “catastrophic increase“ in the number of civilian victims in Israel and the Gaza Strip. The two leaders also reiterated the need for “an immediate ceasefire“ and for “the resumption of the negotiation process“. US responds to ongoing Palestinian-Israeli tensions with another $ supplied to its Middle East ally annually. Mr Biden Tuesday calls the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) “sheer evil”, and asserts 14 American deaths. __________________ ShanghaiEye focuses on producing top-quality contents.
