Rehabilitated sea turtle released into Florida Keys

Good news in the sea turtle world. The 200 pound, 40-year-old sea turtle, who goes by the name Tina, was injured in the Atlantic Ocean has been released back into her habitat after treatment. The adult loggerhead sea turtle was released Friday, Sept, 1, 2023, in the Florida Keys. Back in July, boaters spotted the sea turtle entangled with a trap line around her neck. After being treated in the turtle hospital, Tina was sent back into the water to the cheers of people on the beach. Loggerhead turtles are protected under the endangered species act. A hospital manager said as Tina is a reproductive female, it was important to get her back out into the waters.
