Exploded view wooden shoes bench

Since I first designed a piece of furniture on my computer, I liked the way it looked when all the pieces were exploded. So, now that I have a CNC and I’m able to build more intricate parts, I went ahead and built a shoes bench. I used ash wood and thermally treated ash for the dowels. This way, they are contrasting and are the centerpiece of the bench. Most of the project was done using CNC. Yet, a lot of parts had to be straightened, cut and glued the traditional way. There were quite a lot of challenges, such as parts that were bigger than the CNC. For these, I had to make perfectly aligned compound cuts. The other issue was drilling the ends of longer boards. I solved this by building a turning plate for my CNC, which allows me to drill horizontally. 00:00 Intro 00:12 Making the legs 03:02 Making the long top pieces 04:20 Making the short top pieces 05:05 Making the extra long connecting dowels 06:46 Making the bottom shelf for shoes 07:56 Cutting the panel for the top 08:42 Final assembly
