On creating this “Kingdom of the Shades: video while in quarantine, ABT Corps de Ballet dancer Lauren Bonfiglio says: “Natalia Makarova’s LA BAYADÈRE is an integral part of ABT’s history and it feels very special to experience the passing down of its tradition from our Principal Ballet Mistress, Susan Jones. I wanted to create this video to honor Susan and all the ladies that make The Kingdom of the Shades so iconic. Many hours go into perfecting the style and musicality that presents the look of effortless unison in movement and breath. All of the work in the studio leads to the most spiritual experience while performing on stage. I dearly miss dancing next to these incredible women, so I had a vision to emulate our shared experience.
