Prokofiev: Dance of the Knights (Organ Transcription) | Titus Grenyer @ St Mary’s Cathedral Sydney

Watch until the end for a surprise! I assure you, dear viewer, I don’t plan when the bells ring – they usually interrupt my playing rather than compliment it. The Dance of the Knights, also known as The Montague and the Capulets, is a popular movement from Sergei Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet ballet (1935). It has been transcribed and sampled many times for endless ensembles. The music was originally meant to accompany the ball scene of Romeo and Juliet. The middle section is the moment that Juliet arrives at the dance. This organ transcription is based off Maurizio Machella’s, with some changes. Played on the 1999 Létourneau organ at St Mary’s Cathedral, Sydney. #PepOrgan
