A Flying Foursome (1931)

“Meet “The Locarno Four“, the famous Acrobatic Dancers.“ The acrobatic foursome perform some gymnastic stunts on what looks like a pier or wooden promenade. “The advantage of practising outside“ said the leader, “is you don’t need to worry about hitting stray pieces of scenery.“ One of the man grabs the girl in the troupe by one wrist and one ankle and swings her around. Then all three swing her until she ends up standing on the shoulders of one of the men. “Strength, grace and poise - and you need to be fit to stand it.“ Two of them swing the girl then let her go, the other catches her. “The whirl and the girl - the Locarno version - “ The girl is spun around on the shoulders of the man. She curtseys at the end. “But, don’t try these little exercises inside the house.“ The boys do some lifts on the beach, the girl is swung above their heads, she is held up by one leg and strikes a balletic pose.
