Throughout the Second World War, there were many women who were executed by the Germans. One of those was a teenage girl named Masha Bruskina who was just 17 when she went to her execution in her home city of Minsk. She had been a member of Communist youth groups, but as WW2 erupted on the Eastern Front following Operation Barbarossa, Bruskina became involved in resistance groups. She worked in a prison hospital trying to break Soviet soldiers out of prison, but was betrayed and she was then tortured by the German Army. Following this she was condemned to death, and she was paraded throughout the streets of Minsk in front of hundreds before she was executed in public. It was a horrific execution.
