Caracas - Lou Donaldson

I don’t have the words in my command to express how much I love the playing of Lou Donaldson. To me, he gets far too few mentions when the topic turns to jazz’s all-time great altos. If it were left up to me that wouldn’t be the case because I sing his praises whenever I get a chance! Here he treats us to one of his more Latin-tinged compositions. No matter what flavors Lou decides to use when he offers up his musical treats, you can best believe he’s gonna be swingin’! From his 1963 album, “Good Gracious“, this is entitled “Caracas“.
